Credentialling Guidelines
Windwalker's mission is to build the profession of pet assisted therapy that is widely integrated into health care, rehabilitation, social services, and education at all levels, pre-school to university and beyond.
To accomplish this Windwalker members strive:
To gain recognition nationally for the profession of Pet Assisted Therapy;
To continue to develop, monitor and upgrade the highest professional standards in PPAT ethics, guidelines and curriculum;
To provide a network of shared experiences, shared learning and mentoring for individuals studying in the field, practicing in the field and advocating for the field;
To collaborate with like-minded people to build a better world for all living things through social reform initiatives, public policy initiatives, legislation and speaking out against violence towards animals and people;
To inspire the development of PPAT treatment based programs for individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities, individuals who are elderly, individuals who are abused and individuals who are incarcerated;
To promote the development of PPAT educational programs on all levels, from preschool through university and beyond;
To enhance public awareness of the tragic link of abuse between people and animals and to educate so as to prevent the ongoing cycle.
Our vision is to build a better world for people and animals through the professional of Pet Assisted Therapy.
