Love and Companionship to Others

Patti Durant and Bijou, 11yr old Lab/ Retriever mix, are graduates of the Pet Assisted Therapy Certificate Course at CCRI and a Windwalker credentialed therapy team.

Bijou and I completed our internship by developing a visiting program with an elderly person that is unable to leave her home due to health issues. Planned visits for friendly conversation and favorite treats for snacking bring something to look forward each week. Bijou’s wagging tail and excitement when we enter the house bring a smile to her face. Bijou sits to enjoy the petting her soft gold fur during the entire visit and the big brown eyes always seem to get that one more treat. Bijou brings joy to my life everyday. Pet Assisted Therapy has given me the opportunity to share and bring that feeling to others that need  love and companionship.
 
We are currently working to become involved in a program with Attleboro Community Health Services. We are looking forward to bringing the qualities of the bond we share
of love, companionship, and caring to others lives through Pet Assisted Therapy
